We are hosting a large group for Thanksgiving this year so I’m getting a jump start on the décor. Our dining room table scape will be a bit more formal, but I wanted something fun for our kitchen table. This is the area where people tend to congregate and snack before dinner. I was also looking for an activity for my son so he could be involved with the preparations.
I decided to have him help me make a table runner. I already had the craft paper (dollar store) and painters tape. The word “Thankful” was the perfect length for our table and fit the theme. I taped it out and then he went to work.
He loved that the painting surface was as big as the table and he was occupied for at least an hour. That’s a long time around here. He made sunsets, pumpkins, blue monsters… I loved watching him create and think about what he wanted to add to his picture.
To make sure there letters stood out, I went over them one more time with a darker color. I love the finished product and can’t wait to add it to our table.
This would also work well as a door cover or welcome sign.
I hope you add one to your holiday decorations!
